Balenciaga – Fall 21 (AW 21 collection launch)

Luxury French fashion brand, Balenciaga, launched its couture autumn/winter 2021 collection as a VR experience, via a virtual runway show (presented through Oculus). Belenciaga issued 30 guests (largely from the Press) with a headset with which to attend the event. Over 300 worldwide viewers experienced a VR runway show of a collection which echoed themes of dystopia, escapism and existentialism. The business also released a video game following the event, widely believed to be the first produced by a fashion brand, called Afterword: The Age of Tomorrow. The game was made available to the public, via the Brand’s website.
