The Royal Opera House – virtual performances

In response to the UK Covid restrictions in 2020, The Royal Opera House (ROH) created 3 events which were live streamed specifically for a virtual audience. The first performance, live from Covent garden (on the 13th of June 2020) was available to view free of charge and consisted of 45 minute of musical performances and ballet. Subsequent performance’s (which ran on the 20th and 27th of June 2020) where available to download and view at the at a cost of £4.99 each. The ROH also partnered with The Luna Drive-in cinema during the summer of 2020 to present four productions at historic outdoor venues – Blenheim Palace, Warwick Castle, Allianz Park, Knebworth House, Tatton Park and Harewood House. These were pay-to-view experiences, ticket prices for the Blenheim event started at £35 for a general admission car with 2 occupants (£5 for additional passengers) and up to £80 for a VIP ticket allowing up to 2 people to watch the screening from a Mitsubishi L200 truck (with its bed filled with pillows & blankets) in a prime position complete with a hamper of food and drink. The events were sold out.
